2005 Dodge Durango Binding on Tight Turns

2005 Dodge Durango SLT Engine Size : 5.7 Hemi.
Question: I've got a 2005 Dodge Durango that when you turn hard to the right either goes in between gears or is doing something else and the car won't move till you rev to a higher RPM at which point something doesn't sound right and the vehicle seems to make is lag. What am I looking at here?

Answer: Are you sure you are not in 4 wheel drive? Sounds like your truck is in four wheel low gear. Check to make sure you are not in four wheel drive. This is a normal condition for low gear. Four wheel high is similar but not as pronounced. if you are not actually in 4-wheel, then the transfer case may be stuck or the front differential is binding. You could remove the front prop shaft between the transfer case and front differential to see if that fixes the problem. If so, then have someone looking under the truck to see if the transfer case output flange is turning. It should only turn when in 4-wheel drive.

That might be the issue, now when I'm driving something lights up on my speedometer constantly saying SVC and 4wd under that and occasionally that light sometimes goes off and another light blinks on and off saying 4-lock. I have my setting on AWD instead of the 4-lock and the 4-low. Is this something I can fix or am I looking at a repair job here, and if I am what what is the ballpark that I'm looking to pay?

This sounds like the root of your problem. The "Service 4wd" light and 4-lock sounds like the system is stuck between gears or in the wrong gear. There could be many causes for this and it would need to be looked at by a mechanic.
