brake light failure on 2005 mercury sable

Hello, this is the second time I have asked this question and got NO response.

The left rear brake light does not work when the brake pedal is depressed even though all other lights work fine including the right rear and the upper mounted brake light tail lights, right rear tail and brake lights, also the upper mounted brake light also works. The car is a 2005 mercury sable ls, 4 door, v6. 24 valve overhead cam.

Comparing the left and right tail light assemblies I note that ALL bulbs are lit including the cluster of 4-bulbs that should brighten when the brake pedal is depressed as they do only on the right side. Either there are two filaments in the brake bulbs OR they only feed about 8-volts to the bulbs during normal tail light operation, but when the brake pedal is depressed the allow the full 12-volts to the brake light bulbs.

Any ideas on this problem? Would appreciate all the help I can get. Bob Schaffer.

Alternator wiring on T Bucket kit

Bought this 1924 T Bucket replica from a guy in Arizona, boy did I not realize the complete extent of what electrical wiring problems this thing had.

It's a Chevy 350 small block, I'm assuming it's a Chevy alternator.

He told me he had just "taken off" one of the alternator wires - - didn't need it.

When I got the bucket home into my shop I discovered most all the thick black wire leading out from the alternator was melted in places - - all the way into the amp meter - - to the starter, etc.

I replaced it all with the same size - - 10 gauge copper.

Now I'm trying to understand what this wire was he disconnected.

1) I don't find a voltage regulator anywhere on this vehicle, does the alternator have a VR inside it ?

2) Is 10 gauge heavy enough wire for the heaviest alternator wire ?

3) Both ends of the disconnected wires are female connectors, maybe they are not related . . .

97 caddy cts not charging

I had been working on my caddy and when I was done I took it to a automatic car wash. When finished I drove out and got down the road about 2 tenths of a mile when the whole electrical system went out, got another 1/2 down the road and the engine died. Upon looking to find the problem, I found that I had opened up the lid on the fuse panel under the hood. There was a few places where the plastic had melted. Further checking into the electrical system all fuses were good in the panel. (power coming into and going out). Checked to see if alternator was charging and it showed very little or minimal charge, I assume just showed what charge was left in the battery, 11.2 or so. I figured that I blew the alternator. I pulled the alternator and took it to a parts house to check it, it showed it was charging fine. Which sucked beings that on my model I had to pull the radiator, fans and all that crap to get it out. My question is there a fusible link somewhere? I looked and can't find one, but that's not to say I may have missed it. I know I have power coming into the fuse panel and coming out, and the battery is new, and I charged and checked it just to make sure it was ok.

Thanks for your time.

2003 Windstar Hazard Flasher Problem

I need help solving a problem with my 2003 Windstar.

Symptoms, Description and work done:

- hazard lights (all four corners) came on while driving and would not turn off even when stopped and with removing of the ignition key.

- after trying different things, removed Fuse # 16; hazard lights turn off when the ignition key is out but lights are on with ignition key in "running" position

- during driving as above, the warning chimes was ON all the time. Upon returning home and removing the ignition key, the running lights on all four corners were on and would not turn off

- other symptoms include: head lights and horn going on and off randomly(?); possibly with opening and closing driver door(?)

- work done includes: all fuses inside & out checked Ok, relays 1,2&4 checked Ok, multifunction switch checked Ok, moved/shook the harness going into the driver's door to see if head lights and horn would come on......nothing happened !

- tried but failed to locate the (EP27) flasher relay....with flashers ON, there is the expected "Clicking" sound; so, there must be a flasher relay somewhere.

Please provide whatever help you can; including location of flasher relay.

Thanks
