1997 Thunderbird A/C Won't Get Cold | Rough Idle

I have power to the fuse, but not the air conditioning clutch. Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram? Does anyone know what the most common causes of this problem are?

Thanks.

Answer: The most common problem is that the freon charge is low, which would mean the A/C system has a leak. Low freon level will not allow the pressure switch to close and send power to the compressor clutch.

Ford Falcon Wiring Problem

1992 Ford Falcon panel van.
Engine Size : v8
Question: hi i have put a 302 Cleveland v8 into my 1992 Ford Falcon panel van it had a 4.1 motor in it now my problem is the 4.1 has 3 wires on the dizzy which are yellow white/brown/black orange and the v8 dizzy has only 2 wires green white/brown white dose anyone now how i hook it up thanks.

Answer: Not really sure, but i think the black / orange wire is the ground. Don't think you can wire this in to work correctly.

Ford Thunderbird Rough Idle

1994 Ford Thunderbird.
3800 V6. Question = idles rough, if you step on the accelerator when stopped, with brake on smooths out. Vacuum line?

Answer: Yes, most likely a vacuum leak. You can spray brake cleaner or ether around the vacuum lines, intake manifold and other areas to find a vacuum leak. But be VERY careful to stay away from any ignition components, as these fluids are if VERY flammable. When the leak area is found, the idle will surge or at least change somewhat.

You can buy a dye and leak check kit at most parts stores. When the freon leaks out you will see the dye with it. Then the leaking part will need to be replaced. Could be just a seal, the condensor- which is in front of the radiator, or any number of other things that could be leaking freon.

This is a common vacuum problem to the a/c heater controls. When there is no vacuum to the controls to move the different doors in the dash to switch positions, the system defaults to the defroster and floor. You need to look for broken vacuum line from under the hood going into the dash to the A/C heater control. A Haynes or Motors auto repair manual will give a vacuum hose diagram.

On my Thunderbird the air only comes out from the top defoger on top of the dash, not through the a/c vents.
