Cost to Replace Fuel Lines On 1996 Ford Thunderbird

Question: 1996 Ford Thunderbird.  4.6l 8 cyl.

There is a smell of gas every time the gas pedal is applied. We took it to one mechanic said "everything underneath was rotted." Which we believe to not be true since the brake lines are fairly new and the exhaust is stainless steel.

If it is the gasoline, we were wondering what an approximate cost to replace that would be so we know if its worth investing the money into it or not.

Answer: Yes, on a 1996 Thunderbird, the fuel lines being rusted out is a common thing. Since the brake lines needed to be replaced, it is a good bet that the fuel lines also need replacing. They have been on the car for the same amount of time of course. Estimate for replacement depends on how much needs to be replaced. Does the mechanic need to remove the fuel tank and replace the lines from the fuel sender assembly all the way to the front?

Is it just the lines from the tank to the front, but not on top of the tank? Is it just the lines in the engine compartment? The cost of this repair, for just lines and no other parts, is all labor. Fuel pipe is inexpensive, but the labor to remove them, bend and route the new ones can take quite a bit of time- thus high labor charges. Depending on the shop, the cost estimate can vary quite a bit. The Ford dealer would be the highest because their labor rate is higher than an independent shop or local mechanic.

Ford Mustang Engine Frame Weak

65 ford mustang Engine Size : 6 cyl./
Question: Hi I was recently told my frame holding the engine was weakened to the point of being dangerous. I took the car to a body man who told me the frame around the engine needed rebuilt as well as a least one shock tower. Can you tell me what you think should be done to safely secure the engine. Thanks Jeff.

Answer: Since i am not a body man, i would not even want to guess as to the proper repairs for your problems on your ford Mustang.
