Computer codes = check engine light code P0171.
Repairs: Changed fuel filter. It doesn't give a code now.
Question = The other day while driving down the road my car just died. When I started it back up it ran a few feet and died again and I kept starting it and going a little way and dies again.
Problem with my 2001 Chevy Malibu 3.1.
Warning lights = CEL
Repairs- 2 gas caps, vent valve, purge solenoid.
question = CEL on,replaced gas cap and CEL remained on-replaced vent valve & 9 days later CEL came on-replaced with different style gas cap-10 days later CEL came on again-replaced purge solenoid,2 days later CEL on again,

TRY TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT But, a 20O2 CHEVY MALIBU 3.1L OVERHEATED AND BLEW MOTOR. WE HAVE REPLACED IT WITH A GOOD ONE FROM A BUICK. PRIOR TO INSTALLATION, WE REPLACED INTAKE GASKETS, T-STAT, PLUGS, OIL PAN GASKETS AND THE TIMING COVER-DUE TO SLIGHT PULLEY MOUNTING DIFFERENCE.

Question: Do I need special equipment to change an electrical ignition module for a 2001 Chevy Malibu and if so how much is the standard rate for the labor cost?

The car will not start when the ignition is turned all the way over. The battery is fine and I think it is a switch problem. Sometimes I can leave it alone for a few hours and it will fire right up. Other times I just turn the ignition on and off about 5 or 6 times and it starts. I can detect a pattern to this problem as it seems to come and go.

The intake manifold gasket was replaced about about 2.5 months ago.
About 2 weeks ago the service vehicle soon light came on, but it would clear when car was restarted.

Oil leak on my 2002 Chevy Malibu LS
I recently blew a head gasket. Took the heads to a machine shop where they were tested and machined along with new valve seals. The engine is all back together and running perfectly with no leaks or problems anywhere except for an oil leak that has me baffled. The leak was there when the head gasket went.
1997 2.4 Chevy Malibu has a loud ticking sound when at idle or high rpm cold or hot. Replaced the head gasket and it started making the noise. i also replaced the water pump. Car starts and dies if i keep my foot on the gas then it stay running does idle rough but with a lot of power. If you disable ignition and crank the car you do not hear any ticking and car cranks great.
My 99 3400 v6 Chevrolet Malibu overheated and I blew a head gasket so I recently tore it down and replaced the head gaskets as well as all the other gaskets. I then replaced all the fluids including the oil and I had a full tank when my car overheated. Everything is now back together but when I tried to start the car it would not turn over it attempted to and almost did but it never turned over.

Repairs for this problem = had new battery put in 2 months ago. Also had computer re-set 2 weeks after that when the service car light came on.
Car starts fine. No electric works. fuel gauge,windows,turn signals, nothing. then after start to move car everything works. but service engine light is on.
Can you tell me what the deal is with the clunking in the power steering column on the 2006 Chevy Malibu? Mine is making a popping noise when turning at slow speeds. I see a huge number of complaints about this problem all over the internet.

It is warm now and the AC is not coming on to cool the car. There is no Check Engine Light on. Is there a fuse I can check and if so where? Also, if there is no Check Engine light on is it safe to assume no Codes are present? How do I go about reading the Codes form this car? Thank You KC
My 1998 Chevy Malibu blower motor keeps going bad. I have had it replaced three time in the last 2 years. I have also had the blower motor resistor replaced once. I there anything that causes this on my car?
