Blinking check engine light means the engine is misfiring bad enough to cause catalytic converter damage.
With the fact that the car started losing power, engine light flashing, then stalled out makes me think you have a fuel pressure problem. Probably a bad fuel pump. If it were and ignition problem such as a bad ignition module or crank position sensor- the engine would just instantly shut off.
