brake light failure on 2005 mercury sable

Post by Robert » Wed Jul 02, 2014 2:02 pm

Hello, this is the second time I have asked this question and got NO response.
The left rear brake light does not work when the brake pedal is depressed even though all other lights work fine including the right rear and the upper mounted brake light tail lights, right rear tail and brake lights, also the upper mounted brake light also works. The car is a 2005 mercury sable ls, 4 door, v6. 24 valve overhead cam.
Comparing the left and right tail light assemblies I note that ALL bulbs are lit including the cluster of 4-bulbs that should brighten when the brake pedal is depressed as they do only on the right side. Either there are two filaments in the brake bulbs OR they only feed about 8-volts to the bulbs during normal tail light operation, but when the brake pedal is depressed the allow the full 12-volts to the brake light bulbs.
Any ideas on this problem? Would appreciate all the help I can get. Bob Schaffer.

Ford Focus 2002 electric problem?

Post by Jason4 » Tue Oct 21, 2014 6:05 pm

Hi I have a 2002 Ford Focus, and it has some interesting stuff going on. It has had a very high idle for 2 years, and 2 months ago the power steering went out. today I tried to start the car, and the idle was so high that it shut itself off immediately. I tried a couple times and got it so I could drive it to autozone, but It had a violent idle, like its misfiring hard, and if I have to stop it will knock itself off. Driving to the autozone, the power steering came back, and the brake pedal wouldn't push intermittently. then the brake would be fine, and stuck again.

Wow, that's a lot of different things wrong with your Ford Escort.
The high idle cold be a vacuum leak, idle air valve stuck or faulty, or a sensor problem. A scan of the computer codes is needed.
If the car has electric steering, then you have an electrical problem in the computer or inside the steering column.
The brake peal coming and going sounds like a bad master cylinder.

Ford truck locks and lights not working

Post by Shawn » Sat Dec 20, 2014 8:07 am

I have Ford F-150 2007. Recently get in truck and the door locks stop working and also noticed lights will not come on in the auto position. Checked fuses didn't find any bad fuses. What else can I check?

Crown Vic Police Interceptor Gauges

Post by kim » Sun Mar 22, 2015 5:32 pm

I have a 2007 crown vic police interceptor. All of my gauges and odometer will suddenly die and come back on. This happens once or twice only within the first ten minutes of starting my car and driving. The car continues to run fine and everything else works fine when this occurs. What could be wrong??

Be sure you checked ALL of the uses. There are several fuse panels.
If you are sure they are all good, also check the circuit breakers. You can swap them out with one of similar size in the fuse panels.

If all these are good, you may have a problem with the body computer. You will need a scan of codes to check that.

Sounds like the instrument cluster is shirting out internally. Try tapping with the palm of your hand on top of the dash over the gauges. See if that causes them to act up.

You can have the cluster sent out for repairs or just replace it with a remanufactured unit.

Wipers don't park or operate intermittently

Post by Dennis » Wed May 30, 2018 2:13 pm

2000 Windstar, wipers operate continuously both low and high speed. When set to intermittent, they stop in a random position. Also, the wipers do not park in the correctly when shut off. Question is, does the wiper position signal come from the wiper motor or some other device, relay, gadget or gizmo?
