If the noise in your Ford explorer gets louder as engine RPM increase, then you may just have a bad belt, belt tensioner or one of the accessories is noisy- like the alternator or water pump. To confirm this, remove the belt to see if noise goes away. If it does, replace the belt. If that does not help, you would need to get a stethoscope and touch the accessories to see which is producing the noise.

2001 ford escape will turn over but not fire up.

Post by Kel » Mon Aug 18, 2014 12:36 pm

I was driving when it seemed I lost all power, and it wasn't until I slowed almost completely that My motor stopped. Went to restart it and it would crank over but not start... What could be causing this issue? Still wont fire up today...

Could be several different things. If your Ford seemed to loose power, then you may have a bad fuel pump. If it just shut off, then you could have an ignition problem- like a bad ignition module.

You would need to check fuel pressure and for spark at he spark plugs.

I think someone poured sugar water in my tank. Can hooking it up to a scan computer tell me for sure?

It is quite difficult. The dash needs to be removed to access the heater core on your Ford. A very big job, even for a good mechanic.

Not really, but it will show if the engine is running bad. Then a mechanic will diagnose it to determine if sugar is the cause. He will have to do a fuel sample test top be sure. If so, you are going to need some work done to repair the car.
1. Drain the fuel
2. remove the gas tank and clean it out
3. Clean or replace the fuel pump, filter and lines
4. Clean or replace the fuel injectors
