2007 f-150 trans fault

2007 Ford F-150 5.4 4wd
The truck shifts fine up to about 40 mph then a sudden jolt and it goes into limp mode. RPMs will rise with pedal pressure but truck will not speed up. If I turn it off and back on it does it all over again. Shifts and runs fine then limp mode. DTCs show P0720 and P062c. I have replaced the output shaft speed sensor, Transmission speed sensor, ABS wheel speed sensor located on rear end, and transmission wiring. The dealer that I got it from had just replaced the transmission and the ECU because they were having the same problems. I haven't checked the internal wiring yet.

That is your next step on your Ford F-150. If all the sensors have been replaced, you need to check the wiring inside the transmission as well as from the trans to the ECU. There must be a burned or shorted wire. Since the trans was replaced, i would assume the harness inside is also new, so i would start by checking the wires from the ECU to the transmission first.

Start by pulling on them to see if one breaks. Best bet is so get a wiring diagram so you can check the proper wires.

If the transmission in your vehicle only slips in reverse, then it has an internal problem. There is no shift solenoid or anything like that to cause your problem.

You are going to have to have the trans checked out by a mechanic.

Hey "mattmro444", What do you mean it is not so hard to check out? Transmissions are one of the most difficult parts of a vehicle to diagnose. There are more parts in a transmission than there are in an engine, and you cant hear trans noises ! The computers also have limited amounts of data to look at on a scanner.

need info Ford Escort Transaxle

Post by DJH » Fri Nov 07, 2014 11:03 pm

i have a 98 ford escort zx2 sport that blew the clutch release bearing through the transaxle housing... pulled the transaxle... got one from the junk yard out of a 97 ford escort... looks like the exact same one except where the drive axles connect to it... nearest i can tell first trans was a manual G5M, the second a manual MTX... QUESTION IS... can i make the mtx work in this car if i trade out drive axles ? or can i make the axles work with the mtx ? the junk yard will switch out the trans but it was a pick and pull yard and the thing was a bitch to get out... whats my options here ? any ideas ?

Just switching the axles will not fix the problem. You need to get the correct trans.
