Gas spider help 97 chev 4.3 truck

Post by Darryl » Mon Oct 20, 2014 2:24 pm

I have a 97 Chevrolet 1500 with 4.3 vortec rwd truck.
My trucks spiders aren't getting any gas running through them but it is getting up to them, When I push the valve gas shoots out.
Stuff I've done:
Tried 3 sending units.
Tried switching the spiders.
Fuel filter is good.
Tried another computer module.
Poured gas into the throttle body and it starts for a couple seconds then it shuts off again.
Found out the problem is the gas isn't shooting out of the spiders but its getting up to it.
Anyone know what could be stopping them from going through to the spiders?

Just because gas is coming out if the pressure valve does not mean the fuel pressure on your Chevy truck is high enough to open the injector nozzles at the tips of the spider. These are calibrated to open and release fuel at a certain pressure. The fuel pressure MUST be 55 PSI or higher. Even a few lbs. less and the injectors wont pop open- that's why they are called poppet valve injectors.

You need to put a fuel gauge on that pressure port to check. If it is low, even 53 lbs., most likely you have a weak fuel pump.

Silverado 5.7L engine interchange

What vehicles have a 5.7 liter engine that will interchange with the 5.7 liter engine in my 1997 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71?

just about any mid 1990's to early 2000 GM trucks that have that engine will fit in your Chevy. Just look and the 8th position in the VIN number to get the engine code and then you can match it up.
