How To Remove Axle From 2002 Cavalier Transmission

2002 Chevy Cavalier. How do you remove the front passenger side axle from transmission. Already have it out at the wheel end just in trans. still can you help me out. Thanks Jeff.

Answer: If you've got the axle out that far already, it's not hard to remove it the rest of the way. You'll need to get a pry bar or large flat head screwdriver behind the axle joint at the transmission side and give it a good 'pop' and the axle will disengage from the transmission. There is just a snap ring holding it in, but it usually needs some force to get it out. You may need 2 pry bars, 180 degrees apart from each other and use equal pressure, as sometimes they get stuck. When reinstalling, start the axle on the splines of the transmission side, get it aligned as straight as possible and then give a good shove into the transmission. It will usually engage easily if everything is lined up properly. Then reassemble the rest of the car as you've taken it apart.
